I'm in Japan now and this sketch was done during the terrible typhoon that hit all of Japan on September 16. I sketched to calm down as I was deep in the country outside of Kyoto and falling trees, landslides, and creeks at flood level were all around me.

This sketch, in journal 76, was done during the smoky afternoons in Hailey, Idaho during my workshop there. I'll be at the annual Tools of the Trade show at the U of O Duck Store next to campus in Eugene November 6th and 7th.
I'll teach "Sketchbooks in Italy" next year from September 5 to 19 in Umbria, North of Rome. We'll visit and sketch in a different hill town each day. 14 days of amazing food, art and culture and friends.
